CAMBRIDGE — Two young males age 14 and 17 have been charged with public mischief after police say they walked into a Cambridge school last week and were overheard talking about a weapon.
Staff at William G. Davis Public School deployed a “secure and hold” protocol for students Friday after the two unknown teens came to the school.
Waterloo Regional Police say the two teens walked into the Langs Drive school in Cambridge around 12:30 p.m. and a staff member overheard them talking about a weapon. They ran away as staff tried to approach them.
No weapon was actually seen and no one was threatened.
Neighbouring schools were notified of the incident and a “secure and hold” protocol deployed.
This means the school’s external doors were locked but activities inside carried on as normal.
Two people were arrested Saturday and charged with public mischief.
